Question 7

From looking back at my preliminary task I feel I have learnt many new techniques and how positioning the camera well can create a great affect on the adueince.

What has also improved is the editing, this can be seen in the sense that in the extract the cuts work a lot better as it cuts on action when Aaron is walking and also is on screen for the right amount of time in terms of the shots that build up to the reveal of the dead body on the floor, this is a lot better to what was done in the preliminary task as the cuts are slightly delayed compared to what they are now.

What has also improved is the sense of Mise En Scene, in the shots in the preliminary task it is not that interesting compared to what is shown in the opening seqeunce, this is because in the car park it shows the charecters as a lot more iscolated which is very effective compared to a simple classroom.

These shots here show a clear ecample of how I have made progression from the preliminary task to now, as shown here on the first image the camera is not exactly placed in the best position as it is a high angle shot which creates the wrong mood we wanted, however if you compare it to the shot we used in our opening it is a lot more conventional as we placed the camera on the floor which I feel is a lot more better suited and the framing appears a lot better and also seems to be building up to something quick as the cuts our quite fast and we do not know much to what is going on.

As you can see here an over the shoulder shot has been used, at the time we thought it would come accross as more effectieve as a shot reverese shot followed however the frameing is not great as their is a lot of empty space to the left which would of worked better if Michael was their. However the shot shown in the clip of me laying dead on the floor is a clear example of how the cinematography has improved as it is more centered and also it shows me to appear behind bars which is very effective as it looks a lot more interesting rather than haveing nothing their.

Here is another example of how the camerawork has improved, in the shot of me dead it is better framed where as the shot with Ollie in we have the lower part of his face cut off, this shows a clear improvement in the camerawork.

Directors Commentary

This my directors commentary on the opening sequence we made.

Question 4

Question 4

Question 3

Q3)
What kind of media institution might distribute you media product and why?

The media instituion that would distribute our film would be ''Entertainment Film Distributors''. This is because they distribute indie films which ours would be, our film wouldn't be one to make a massive profit and would have a fairly low budget which is why instead of going for they typical big name distributor such as ''Paramount Pictures" we have gone for something a lot more realistic however this distributor is still quite good as they have had failry successful films come through in the past.

The company Entertainment Film has had great success in the past with indie films which is why they are the leading Independent distributor in Britain so we felt that a film like ours would fit in well. One of its highlights for the company has been the release of the trilogy Lord Of The Rings. With our film we do not expect it to reach the high standards and appeal to such a large audience but feel with the type of story line that is surrounded in mystery it will fit in a lot more.

The company has also won 38 Oscars and 22 BAFTA's, this shows that it is quite a prestige company that distributes low budget indie film and yet won plenty of great rewards which is why we decided to choose it.

Because the company has a mixed variety of films films mostly Indie but some to a great extent of success we felt this company would work well with ours because it gives our film a chance to be successful and because the Distributors is also quite big their is always that chance our film could be taken further by the company as it has done so with other films before.

Question 2

Q2)

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

Our media product represents gender roles in a reveresed way, this being instaed of having a typical strong male being the attacker, we have chosen a women to be the killer to go against stereo typical views and have the victim played by a boy. The women in this is represented as a mysterious person to create the mystry around her and prompt the audience to ask questions about her too who she is, we do not show her face in the sequence and we frame it so not much detail is revealed around her, she also wears dark colours as these are considered more negative compared to bright colours.

These representations will promt more questions about the girl being the killer as it is not seen that often and therfore something new and the male in it people will feel sorry for as they have been killed for no reason which is again unusual because they.

Whilst the boy is shown as a typical teenager who has grown up in an urban area where they would be considered a ''chav'' who has to much attitude, this is a common view asociated with teenagers so we have used this in our film so that it appears more realistic and relatable. In the clip we have the boy played as the victim which you would not exactly expect to see as males are often portrayed as the attacker especially on the street at this age so to have the roles reversed presents something new to the audience as they will not be very familiar to this.

Teenagers in this are represented in a typical way to how the public would see them in their eyes due to all the negative publicity they receive on the news. The teenage social group is made out to be this group that can not be trusted and are willing to break the law no matter what the consequence is. This follows stereo typical views because of this.

Because we have two males in the sequence we have portrayed them in different ways, this showing the one as the typical teenager who has been assaulted which the public would expect to see getting into trouble and this age and then the other teenager played by Aaron is represented as the good teenager who abides by the laws  and someone who goes against the stereotypical view to show that all teenagers are not all aggressive and that they can be trusted but due to what is shown in the news they are represented in the wrong way.

The character here played by Aaron has been made to wear very casual clothes to show that he is an innocent teen rather than putting him in a hoodie ad track suit bottoms which is commonly worn by teenagers who are considered to by the typical teenager that gets into trouble quite often and can't be trusted.
He wears light colours which are perceived to be more innocent  to add to the point that he is not the common teen and thus abides by the law.

Then we have the typical teenager played by Molly, she wears dark colours to reinforce the point that she isn't good compared to Aaron and we do not show her face to add onto this further that she is a mysterious person that that you do not actually know what she is thinking similar to the stereotypical teenager.
